CNC Turner Setter Programmer & Operator\n\nRegion: ST7 - Newcastle-under-Lyme\n\nTemporary to Permanent Vacancy\n\nWe are seeking a skilled and motivated CNC Turner Setter Programmer & Operator to join our clients precision engineering team. \n\nThe successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating 5-axis CNC machines to produce complex, high-precision components. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and efficiency in manufacturing.\n\nSalary: £34,632k Per annum / £18.00 per hour\nPAYE, Paid weekly, Statutory Deductions for TAX, NI and Pension if not opted out apply\n\nRising to: £18.50 per hour / Approx £35.500 after 12 weeks \n\nWorking hours \nMonday - Thursday 08:00 to 17:15\n37 hours \nFriday optional Overtime \n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nProgram, set up, and operate CNC Turning Machines to manufacture precision components.\nInterpret and work from engineering drawings and technical documentation.\nOptimize machining processes, cutting strategies, and tooling selection for efficiency and accuracy.\nConduct first-off inspections, in-process checks, and final quality control using precision measurement tools (CMM, micrometers, gauges, etc.).\nTroubleshoot machining issues and adjust programs, tooling, or set-ups as required.\nCollaborate with engineering and production teams to improve manufacturability and reduce cycle times.\nMaintain machines, tooling, and equipment to ensure reliability and accuracy.\nAdhere to company safety procedures, quality standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.\nQualifications\n\nApprenticeship, NVQ, or Diploma/Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience).\nProven experience operating and programming CNC machines (Heidenhain, Siemens, Fanuc, or similar controls).\nStrong understanding of CAD-CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Hypermill, Fusion 360, NX, or equivalent).\nIn-depth knowledge of machining techniques, tooling, and material properties (metals, alloys, composites).\nAbility to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T.\nStrong problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.\nAbility to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.\nPreferred Skills (Nice to Have)\nExperience with high-precision industries such as aerospace, automotive, medical, or mold/toolmaking.\nKnowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.\nFamiliarity with automation, robotics, or multi-machine cell setups.\n\nThis job is commutable from the following areas, Stoke on Trent, Newcastle under Lyme, Hanley, Longton, Burslem, Tunstall, Fenton, Trentham and surrounding areas.
