Electrical Controls, Commissioning and Panel Engineer

• Salary: £52,000 pa (equivalent to £25.00 p/hr for a 40-hour week)
• Location: Bishop's Stortford - easy access from the M11 junction, near Stansted Airport
• Hands-on role: panel wiring, electrical installation, testing and commissioning
• On-site work: install, commission systems at client locations
• Reactive work: fault finding, breakdown diagnosis and repair

Role overview:

An established engineering/manufacturing business is looking for an Electrical Controls, Commissioning and Panel Engineer to support the wiring, installation, testing and commissioning of electrical control panels and skid-mounted systems. You'll also provide fault finding and breakdown support on installed equipment, both in-house and on client sites.

Key responsibilities:

• Controls work and electrical panel wiring
• Read and interpret electrical drawings/schematics
• Electrical installation of systems at client sites
• Testing and commissioning of electrical panels, skids and associated equipment
• Fault finding, breakdown response and corrective repairs to restore operation
• Safe, competent use of power tools and hand tools

Required experience / skills:

• Experience in controls and panel wiring
• Able to read electrical drawings
• Familiar with power tools and hand tools
• Strong fault-finding mindset and a practical, safety-first approach

Desired experience

• PLCs and HMIs (user/diagnostic experience advantageous)
• Commissioning of electrical panels and skids
• Testing and commissioning of electrical equipment
