The RAC is renowned for roadside rescue, but this role is different! Our Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division is a fast-growing part of the RAC, dedicated to delivering planned, structured repairs and servicing directly to our members—whether at their driveway or workplace car park.

Forget emergency callouts and unpredictable shifts! Here, you’ll work through a scheduled list of jobs, equipped with the time, tools, and support you need to deliver quality work.

\n\nWhere You’ll Work\n

As part of the Exeter cluster, you’ll cover areas like Exeter, Exmouth, Sidmouth, Honiton, Tiverton, Newton Abbot, Torquay, Paignton, and Dawlish. You’ll be on the road in your local area, focusing on organized, pre-booked work—no reactive callouts, just a clear plan to get the job done right.

Your day begins with a clear digital schedule, with each job pre-booked and the member expecting you. You’ll carry out:

• Member advice and recommendations based on your inspections

• Vehicle safety checks aligned with RAC standards

With SMR, you’re not reacting to breakdowns; you’re delivering planned work that you can prepare for. From day one, you’ll have everything you need: a fully equipped RAC van, fuel card, uniform, full tool set, and advanced diagnostics.

\n\nWhat You’ll Need\n

\n
• Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
\n
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles
\n
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points
\n
